Logan's Predictions
13 Texas A&M @ 2 Alabama
Game time: 3:30 pm EST
Venue: Bryant-Denny Stadium - Tuscaloosa, AL
Network: CBS
Line: Alabama - 17.5
The Texas A&M vs Alabama game is one of two very exciting SEC matchups this weekend. Despite the large spread, this game is anticipated to be very competitive. The Aggies are coming off of a narrow week 1 win over Vanderbilt while Alabama is coming off of a blowout win vs Missouri. Texas A&M fell back 3 spots last week because of their unimpressive performance against Vandy, but I see them redeeming themselves this week. Although the Aggies will not win, they will prove that they can compete with the top tier teams by making this game closer than expected.
Prediction: 38-27 Alabama
7 Auburn @ 4 Georgia
Game time: 7:30 pm EST
Venue: Sanford Stadium - Athens, GA
Network: ESPN
Line: Georgia - 6.5
Auburn vs Georgia is easily the most exciting game of the weekend and it is going to be a fun one to watch. Both teams are coming off of a season-opening win but they still have a lot to prove. In week 1, Auburn only held a 2 point lead over Kentucky going into the 4th while Georgia trailed Arkansas 7-2 at halftime. I do believe that Georgia found their starting QB in the second half of the game and they looked great from then on. With Georgia being at home and having their offense more figured out, they will defeat Auburn and prove that they belong in the top 4.
Prediction: 31-24 Georgia
Virginia @ 1 Clemson
Game time: 8:00 pm EST
Venue: Memorial Stadium - Clemson, SC
Network: ACCN
Line: Clemson -29.0
Virginia vs Clemson is going to be a warning for every team in the ACC. Virginia is 100% underrated this season and they should certainly be ranked right now. In their first game of the season, the Cavaliers beat Duke by 18. Keep in mind that a couple of weeks earlier, Duke lost to Notre Dame by only 14. There is not much of an argument to make regarding who will win this game because the answer is clearly Clemson. Clemson is a much stronger team, but they will simply not be able to take down Virginia by 28 points or more. You can expect a safe win by Clemson but not a blowout.
Prediction: 38-21 Clemson
Graeme's Predictions
Arkansas @ 16 Mississippi State
Game Time: 7:30 pm EST
Venue: Davis Wade Stadium - Starkville, MS
Network: ESPN
Line: Mississippi State -17.5
Mississippi State is riding plenty of momentum into this week after knocking off the defending-champs LSU Tigers. No, they weren't perfect but they found a way to win. They won't have to be perfect to knock off Arkansas either. The Bulldogs of MS State had trouble stopping the passing attack of LSU last week, so you can expect Feleipe Franks to try and get his fair share of yards through the air. Mississippi State has a tendency to put up points in a hurry. It was on display last week and I expect it to be on display this week. Even if Arkansas gets an early lead, don't count out the Bulldogs.
Prediction: 45-21 Mississippi State
Missouri @ 21 Tennessee
Game Time: 12:00pm EST
Venue: Neyland Stadium - Knoxville, TN
Network: SEC Network
Line: Tennessee -11.5
Last week, a 16th ranked Vols team walked into South Carolina and went to battle. It wasn't pretty and they barely walked away with a victory. Some could even argue they should have lost. From what we learned last week, we can tell that Tennessee is very good when they aren't turning the ball over. If they win the turnover battle, I find it very hard for Mizzou to walk away with a W. In Saturday's game, I don't expect Tennessee to be as bad on 3rd down as they were last week, also you can expect them to open up their playbook a lot more.
Prediction: 33-24 Tennessee
Iowa State @ 18 Oklahoma
Game Time: 8:00pm EST
Venue: Memorial Stadium - Norman, OK
Network: FOX
Line: Oklahoma -14.5
The OU faithful did not quite spend their evenings yelling "How 'Bout them Sooners!" last week. This is where we see how good the leadership of this team really is. Don't get me wrong, Lincoln Riley is an incredible coach, but how does he bring a locker room of guys together after basically taking themselves out of playoff contention? Moving forward, the Sooner's have to be nothing short of excellent. Iowa State loves the big stage, but they do tend to have bad outings against inferior opponents. This game should be a blast with two of the most high-powered offenses in the nation going head-to-head.
Prediction: 47-35 Oklahoma
Davis's Predictions
TCU @ 9 Texas
Game Time: 12 pm EST
Venue: DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium - Austin, TX
Network: FOX
Line: Texas -12
Texas is coming off of a shootout with Texas Tech where they pulled off the comeback to win 63-56 in overtime. Sam Ehlinger has 10 touchdowns in 2 games but they have played basically no defense. TCU is heading to Austin with a loss to Iowa State 37-34. I believe the Horned Frogs win this game if Max Duggan started, I believe he is better than Brock Purdy. I think if Texas can continue their high-powered offense and TCU can gain traction with Duggan, this will be a repeat game of last week. This game will be a shootout, but Texas will pull away late and go on to 3-0.
Prediction: 59-42 Texas
South Carolina @ 3 Florida
Game Time: 12 pm EST
Venue: Ben Hill Griffin Stadium - Gainesville, FL
Network: ESPN
Line: Florida -17.5
Kyle Trask and Kyle Pitts are a dynamic duo that connected for 170 yards and 4 touchdowns in a blowout win for the Gators against Lane Kiffin's Ole Miss Rebels, 51-35. Florida has evolved from an SEC contender to a CFP contender this year and I am putting Florida as a real threat to win the championship this year if they can keep up their impressive offense. The Gamecocks were close to defeating Tennessee on Saturday but came up short 31-27. I predict the Gamecocks will keep this game within striking distance until about the 3rd quarter when the Gators will ultimately prevail by a big margin.
Prediction: 52-24 Florida
12 North Carolina @ Boston College
Game Time: 3:30 pm EST
Venue: Alumni Stadium - Chestnut Hill, MA
Network: ABC
Line: UNC -14
I hate to say it but Mack Brown is building a very good program in Chapel Hill and it has the Tar Heels ranked 12th in the AP poll. He led the Tar Heels to a win against a bad Syracuse team in their first game 31-6. The Tar Heels have a wonderful defense who will give BC fits all day on Saturday. The Eagles are coming off of a disappointing win against Texas State 27-24 but, had a very impressive showing against Duke in the first game 26-6 in which they were underdogs. I expect UNC to almost shut out the Eagles on Saturday in Chestnut Hill.
Prediction: 27-10 North Carolina
